Table Tennis Conversion Top Tips

A table tennis conversion top is an ingenious way of transforming your pool table into a ping pong table. Instead of having to buy two big, expensive gaming arenas, you can just alter the billiards table.

Table tennis conversion tops cost anywhere from about $150 on up to maybe $450. The top brands are companies like Stiga, Kettler, and Killerspin. You can get outdoor weatherproof ones or just your regular indoor types. If you get one that is weatherproof that is when you're going to start paying a bit more money usually.

I like to recommend this technology to parents of younger children. Sometimes these kids enjoy table tennis a lot more than pool. I think it's just more of a kid-friendly game. (It's a great way to get them out of your hair for hours at a time!)

A good quality table tennis conversion top will leave your current pool table undamaged, no matter how many times you put it on and take it off. It will have some sort of a foam on the bottom of it in order that it won't leave scratches.

I also suggest trying to get a thicker table top, because this will lead to a sturdier, more consistent ping pong play. And of course it will also give a longer life to the ping pong top, rather than buying a thin one that cracks after a few years.

Basically, a conversion top is a great solution to the twin problems of having not enough space and not wanting to shell out a ton of money in order to be able to play table tennis. I think it is a fine invention.
